Banner Health Center
The center, which is the first major medical facility in the community, is the result of a public/private partnership between the City of Maricopa and Banner Health that was approved by the Maricopa City Council Tuesday, Feb. 22. Expected to open Phase I (a 40,000 sq ft building)at the southeast corner of Porter Road and Alan Stephens Parkway in mid-2012, the project will provide primary and specialty medical care to residents. A groundbreaking ceremony with over 250 attendees took place on July 23 and the formal grand opening is expected to occur by June of 2012.
Pinal County Health Clinic
The 10,000 square foot county health clinic is currently under construction and is expected to open during the second week of February, 2012. The clinic will be the first public health facility in Maricopa and will offer Women, Infant and Children (WIC) nutrition services; breast feeding counseling; sexually transmitted disease and HIV testing; family planning/reproductive health services; well woman health screening for breast and cervical cancer; and TB services.
Planning has begun for the development of a Holiday Inn Express and Suites at this location just south of the intersection of Hathaway Ave and John Wayne Parkway. The developer received site plan approval from City Council on this project in February 2011 and is currently undergoing building plan review.
Central Arizona College Maricopa Campus: In Planning Process
In 2006 the District began leasing space in the City of Maricopa for offices and classrooms to serve the surrounding community. In September 2010 the District purchased 217 acres in the City of Maricopa for the Maricopa Campus, which is anticipated to be large enough to serve up to 15,000 students at buildout. The master site plan for the campus is currently being developed and is expected to be completed in FY 2011. A groundbreaking ceremony occurred on December 16, 2011.
