Redevelopment District Plan


Second public forum identifies resident preferences.


Maricopa, Ariz. (March 16, 2009) – Fifty community members and interested parties were in attendance at the second of three public forums to provide input and guidance on the Redevelopment District Plan. The Morrison Maierle team developing the plan for the City began with a presentation developed by incorporating all public comments gathered so far. Following the presentation, attendees participated in facilitated group discussions to provide feedback on the many options presented. This information will be used to create a draft plan that will be brought back for review at the final public meeting, and before the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council for final approval. First public forum held to gather community input.


Maricopa, Ariz. (February 13, 2009) – On Thursday, February 12, nearly 100 community members joined Morrison Maierle, Inc. at the Multipurpose Room in Maricopa Elementary School. The forum began with a presentation from Morrison Maierle team members to explain the plan process in more detail. Following the presentation, attendees participated in facilitated group discussions. Maricopa City Council approves contract for redevelopment district planning consultant team.


Maricopa, Ariz. (November 19, 2008) – On Tuesday, November 18, the Maricopa City Council approved a professional services contract with Morrison Maierle, Inc. for Redevelopment Planning Consultant Services to assist in the creation of a Redevelopment District Plan in accordance with A.R.S. §36-1479. The process of creating the Redevelopment Plan will include several opportunities for public comment and involvement, and is expected to complete in late Spring 2009.


City Council takes first step toward redevelopment district creation.


Maricopa, Ariz. (September 19, 2008) – The Maricopa City Council has taken the first step necessary in the creation of a Redevelopment District and Plan by passing Resolution 08-48a. The City is currently soliciting bids for consultant services through RFP. It is anticipated that a consultant will be selected within the next 45 days with public input sessions to begin in November, and ultimate plan completion in Spring of 2009.
