Redevelopment District Plan

Planning and Zoning Commission receives draft plan for review and comment.

Maricopa, Ariz. (April 27, 2009) – The Morrison Maierle Team has presented a draft of the Redevelopment District Plan to the Planning and Zoning Commission. This draft represents the text portion of the document, and photos and figures will be added into the final version. The draft plan represents input from three separate public forums, dozens of one-on-one meetings with various area stakeholders and City representatives, and briefing presentations to City Council, the Planning and Zoning Commission, and the City's Industrial Development Authority Board.

The Commission's role is to review the plan for conformance with the City's General Plan and provide any recommendations at their May 26, 2009 meeting. These recommendations will be provided to City Council which will then receive a final draft of the plan for approval and adoption in June.

Third public forum refines plan goals and objectives.

Maricopa, Ariz. (April 14, 2009) – Over twenty dedicated attendees participated in the third public forum to provide input and help refine the goals and objectives for the Redevelopment Area Plan that have been identified by the Morrison Maierle team. The meeting began with a presentation outlining the main goals and objectives for the plan - in no particular or der of importance - as well as a realistic timeline for some of the major projects. Following the presentation, attendees participated in facilitated group discussions to provide feedback. Of particular discussion was the recommendation by Morrison Maierle that along with the plan a Citizen Advisory Committee be formed to ensure the plan stays on track and retains its momentum over the years to come.

Feedback from this final forum will be incorporated into a draft plan that will be presented to the Planning & Zoning Commission on April 27. The Commission will then review the plan to ensure it conforms to the City's General Plan and provide any recommendations to City Council which will then be given the plan for final approval and adoption in June.

Notes from this forum will be posted on this site by the end of April, so check back often.
