| The City of Maricopa Has Been Branded! Thanks to the participation of a record number of residents in a summer 2007 survey along with advisory committee and focus group input throughout the remainder of the year, a new brand concept has been developed and approved for the City of Maricopa by Council Resolution. This is a milestone in a process that began with recognition of the need in 2005 and officially commenced in April of 2007 when Pat Davis Design Group, Inc. was retained to develop the City’s new brand and marketing strategies after a competitive bid process. The new City of Maricopa brand is the result of an exhaustive discovery process, designed to develop the best representation of the City and its residents. “The City of Maricopa is community and family-oriented, and dedicated to the wellbeing of its residents and workforce. City decision-making is designed to foster a strong family and business friendly atmosphere. The community is committed to honoring its rich history while embracing a prosperous future, made possible through Maricopa’s dedication to building a sustainable community for its people, economy, and environment.” What is a brand? A brand is much more than a logo or a slogan — it is a trustmark and a promise. It is what people think about when they see your logo or hear your name. Successful branding is why you think of quality sports equipment when you see the very simple Nike Swoosh. Branding a community requires identifying how a community is currently perceived, how it would like to be perceived, and closing that gap. The resulting brand statement is designed to identify who and what the City of Maricopa stands for and will distinguish it from other cities in a unique way. The ultimate goal of branding Maricopa is to spread community pride, advance economic growth by attracting individuals and businesses to the community, and ensure that planning and decision making respond to community needs and desires. In coming months, Pat Davis Design will work with Maricopa to develop a marketing and communications plan that will be used to reinforce, grow, inform, and identify Maricopa’s brand over time. |
